contains will retrieve an investigator if the word or phrase you have entered is contained anywhere in field you have chosen to search.
is refers to an exact match. The entered word or phrase must match the field you have chosen to search exactly to retrieve a search result.
starts with will search for the word or phrase you entered that appears in the beginning of the field you have chosen to search.
ends with will search for the word or phrase you entered that appears at the end of the field you have chosen to search.

D. Output format

This selection controls the output format of the search results. Selecting the default of HTML will yield a properly formatted web page. Selecting Tab-delimited text will yield a search result in simple text format, with the various fields in each record being separated by tab characters. The latter setting is often used when the search result must be imported into another program, such as a spreadsheet or report.

E. Affiliation filter

This field limits the search query to a specific department or graduate program. To enable this feature, select the department or graduate program of interest. The default setting is to search for investigators in all departments and graduate programs.

F. Location filter

This field limits the search query to a specific college or campus. To enable this feature, select the college or campus of interest. The default setting is to search for investigators in all colleges and campuses.

G. Submit button

Clicking on the Search button will submit the query. The search can also be initiated by hitting the Enter key.
